Would you like to get paid to fish?

The Department of Fish and Wildlife is paying anglers for every pikeminnow they pull out of the Snake and Columbia Rivers again this year.

The department is raising the rate to $6 each for the first 25 of the invasive species caught.

That goes up to $8 each for 26 through 200 and $10 per fish after that.

The Tri-City Herald reports one lucky angler made $61,000 hauling in pikeminnow last summer.

The fish feed on young native salmon and steelhead and the department says the program has cut down on losses of those species by 40%.
