OLYMPIA, Wash. — Governor Inslee has announced new travel restrictions over a new coronavirus strain.

The news comes after the United Kingdom and South Africa reported the circulation of a new and seemingly more contagious strain of the virus.

The proclamation would require passengers arriving from the U.K. and South Africa to quarantine for 14 days, including passengers who have arrived from those countries in the past few days.

Inslee Monday joined a growing list of countries in restricting travel from Britain.

Experts said the early evidence indicates the strain is not more deadly, and expressed confidence that the vaccines being given will be effective against it.
