OLYMPIA, Wash. – Jay Inslee joined with the governors of California and Oregon on Monday, February 28th, to announce an end to the three states’ mask mandates on March 12th.
“After March 11th, the vast majority of businesses and public spaces will be free of a mask mandate,” said Inslee. “And that includes our schools in the state of Washington.”
Inslee said in an afternoon news conference that the decision comes as coronavirus case and hospitalization rates decline across the West Coast.
The new guidance will make face coverings a recommendation rather than a requirement at schools and most indoor places regardless of vaccination status.
Masks will still be required in health care settings including hospitals, doctor offices, long term care facilities and in prisons and jails.
