WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — More than $2.5 million in COVID-19 economic recovery grants will go to Whatcom County Businesses.

Whatcom County and the cities of Bellingham, Lynden, Ferndale, Sumas, Everson, Nooksack and Blaine have teamed up and combined their federal CARES Act allocations to offer a competitive grant program, called Whatcom ReStart, to assist businesses that have experienced revenue losses and expenses due to COVID-19-related closures or impacts.

The program accepted a total of 628 grant applications from July 16 to July 31.

From that, they identified 264 top-tier applicants for funding with a maximum grant amount of $15,000.

Businesses can use that money to pay for rent, wages, or operating costs.
