SUMAS, Wash. – Guest farm workers from Mexico who said they were fired after the death of a co-worker marched on Tuesday.

Supporters joined the workers at Sarbanand Farms near Sumas.

More than 100 workers said they were fired when they complained about harsh working conditions that led to the death of Ernesto Silva Ibarra.

The workers demanded wages they said are owed to them, renewal of their expired visas and accountability for Ibarra’s death.

A farm spokesman said they do not comment on labor matters.
