HANFORD, Wash. (AP) – The Hanford Reach National Monument won’t lose its protection.
It was under review because of an executive order from President Trump.
Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke is recommending that no changes be made to the national monument.
Cathy Baker with The Nature Conservancy urged Zinke to leave protections in place for the Hanford Reach.
“This is great news for Washington, and we’re just so pleased that the people of Washington have spoken up, and said they want to keep these lands and protected status.”
Zinke says sportsmen and women from all over the country go to the Hanford Reach for fishing and bird hunting.
