OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) – The woman trying to keep the state’s largest psychiatric hospital from failing was picked to run the state department that oversees the facility.
Governor Jay Inslee selected Cheryl Strange to run the Department of Social and Health Services.
Strange took over as CEO of Western State last year as federal regulators threatened to strip its funding over safety violations.
Inslee says a search is underway for a new CEO for the psychiatric hospital.
