BELLINGHAM, Wash. — While the novel coronavirus outbreak is still active worldwide, there are no confirmed cases in Whatcom County.

12 cases have been confirmed in the US, including one in Washington state, and the virus has claimed more than 900 lives worldwide.

The Whatcom County Health Department says it has expanded its ICS structure to have more dedicated staff time to ensure procedures, task lists, and supplies are in place should any further investigations be needed, and to provide additional support to partner agencies.

The health department is actively evaluating patients for possible coronavirus infection and if a case is confirmed in Whatcom County, they will notify the public.
