BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Due to coronavirus concerns, Whatcom County may have an uneventful summer.
In an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 , the County Health Department is recommending the cancellations of all local summer events.
County Health Director Erika Lautenbach says they are seeing positive effects of the efforts to contain the virus, in large part due to social distancing measures put into place in March.
But in order to prevent another wave of the illness, she is warning against group gatherings this summer.
In response, the City of Ferndale is cancelling Old Settler’s Weekend, the Ferndale Street Festival, Parks and Recreation activities and all other large gatherings through August 31st.
