WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – Health officials say we could expect to see a fall and winter COVID surge in the Pacific Northwest after months of relatively low case levels.

King County’s Health Officer says that virus trends in Europe show a concerning picture of what the U.S. could soon see.

He says waning immunity and the return to pre-COVID activity is leading to a surge in COVID in Europe, and that we could expect to see a similar increase in cases in four to six weeks.

He is urging residents to get an updated COVID booster shot as soon as possible.
