KING COUNTY, Wash. – King County’s health agency says the first person known to have to become infected with the COVID-19 omicron variant in King County did not report any recent travel.
Public Health Seattle and King County said in a blog post Wednesday, December 8th, that the fact that the person hasn’t traveled suggests the variant has been spreading locally.
The case was identified in a woman in her 20s who had been fully vaccinated and is experiencing mild illness.
Two other cases have been identified in Thurston and Pierce counties.
Secretary of Health Dr. Umair Shah is again urging people to get vaccinated and get booster shots to maximize their protection from all variants.
