OLYMPIA, Wash. – Health officials in Washington state are urging residents to get the new COVID-19 booster shot that is being distributed to health providers this week.

The new booster contains the original vaccine formula plus the BA 4 and 5 spike protein components that will target the more transmissible omicron subvariants.

Along with the COVID booster, the health experts are urging people to consider the flu shot as well, as COVID restrictions saw reduced flu transmission the last couple years, leaving immune systems more susceptible.
