BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Heavy winds overnight left hundreds of thousands of Washington state households and businesses without power Wednesday morning and caused trees to topple.
Outages started statewide after midnight and by 4 a.m., PSE reported over 318,000 customers without power.
At that time roughly 30,000 Northwest Washington PSE customers were without power due to outages.
The wind caused trees to fall and damage a dorm at WWU Tuesday night.
University officials say several trees fell on and damaged Stack 3 of the Fairhaven residence hall at about 8:40 p.m.
One minor injury was initially reported and some residents were relocated.
No word yet on total building damages.
