It’s the week BEFORE the high school football state playoffs officially begin but the action is still heating up. Friday night on KGMI you can hear a doubleheader from Civic Stadium. At 5:00 Sehome wraps up its regular season hosting Cascade of Everett. Follow that up at 8 with the Ferndale Golden Eagles taking on Seattle Prep with the winner moving on to the Class 3A state playoffs. That’s on AM790 KGMI and KGMI.com.
Also Friday night in regular season play Bellingham goes to Sultan and Blaine hosts Cedar Park Christian.
Thursday night provided shocking results in Whatcom County. Lynden Christian, Nooksack Valley and Mount Baker met in a Kansas Tiebreaker to determining which two teams would advance to the state playoffs. Lynden Christian, which was ranked #1 in the state most of the season, got eliminated. The night started with Mount Baker advancing on a Marcques George 21-yard touchdown run against Nooksack Valley. That meant the Pioneers and Lynden Christian met for the other state spot and Nooksack advanced 3-0 when the Lyncs missed a tying field goal.
