BIRCH BAY, Wash. — High winds on the bay are expected to bring higher tides and waves of several feet Tuesday morning through Wednesday
Whatcom County’s Division of Emergency Management says a Gale Warning is in effect for local waters with winds getting up to 35 knots at times.
Wind and storm surge projections mean Wednesday’s high tide for Cherry Point could be a king tide.
Roads in Birch Bay, Blaine, Sandy Point and Point Roberts may be impacted and crews are ready to close Birch Bay Drive if the tide reaches it, especially after last month’s storm destroyed parts of the road along the bay.
