WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – There’s a high wind warning in effect for western Whatcom and Skagit counties until 4 pm today, Tuesday, November 9th.

The strongest winds should be felt near Bellingham Bay, where a gale warning is in effect.

We’ll see south winds between 30 and 40 mph, with gusts up to 55, which could cause some power outages.

Meteorologist say this system is a classic Pineapple Express and should bring a warmer rain system later this week.

That’ll put a halt to the prospects of an early opening to ski season in the Cascades.

Over the weekend, the Mount Baker wilderness area got over two feet of snow, but that’ll change this Thursday, when the snow level is expected to rise to 8,000 feet.
