KENDALL, Wash. – A man’s body was found near Kendall late last week, days after he had been reported missing.
Bellingham Police spokeswoman Danette Beckley says Julio Lopez had been missing since the 3rd when Search and Rescue crews found his body.
Whatcom County Medical Examiner Doctor Gary Goldfogel says Lopez had been hiking and died of natural causes related to his Type 1 childhood onset diabetes.
Lopez’s family and friends set up a “gofundme” page to help bring his body back to San Diego.
As of Wednesday, the page had raised more than $15,000.
