LYNDEN, Wash. – Lynden Police are looking for a teen boy after they say he hit a mail truck with a stolen vehicle, knocking the driver unconscious and sending the mail truck careening into a field.

Police Chief Jack Foster says the teen sped around a corner in a stolen Dodge Durango Wednesday afternoon at about 12:50 and hit the stopped mail truck on South Garden at East Grover Street.

Lynden Postmaster Brian Mouche (Moo-shay) says the 28-year-old driver was wearing both seat belts in the vehicle.

And although the driver was knocked unconscious, Mouche says they’re “very thankful that there was no crossing traffic or pedestrians or he didn’t hit a tree or anything like that.”

He says the driver was held in the hospital for observation overnight but was doing well Thursday.

Foster says the teen left the car behind and ran from the scene.

Officers believe the teen has short dark hair and may be white or hispanic.
