BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The transient man accused of starting the fire at Hohl Feed and Seed last month was sentenced to a month in jail.
56-year-old Paul Wolfe pleaded guilty to reckless burning.
Police say he started the fire in a brick chimney in the back alley between two buildings that were part of Hohl Feed & Seed on February 18.
Prosecuting Attorney Jonathan Richardson tells The Bellingham Herald the sentence was shorter than what he would have liked, but it was clear from the evidence that Wolfe didn’t have any intent to hurt anyone.
The 117-year-old building that housed Hohl Feed and Seed was completely destroyed and the business is “permanently closed” according to its Facebook.
