BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A small group of homeless campers took their plight to Bellingham City Hall Wednesday night.

They set up about a half dozen tents on the lawn in front of the building to demonstrate their need.

Homeless advocate Markis Dee says he didn’t organize the action but he supports it.

Police officers tagged the tents and the campers say they expect to be evicted sometime Thursday morning.

City leaders seem to acknowledge the need for shelter as they began this week to solicit organizations that may be able to host tent or tiny home encampments.
