BELLINGHAM, Wash. — PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center has returned to regular operations and scheduling for surgeries.
In an email to KGMI, Bev Mayhew with the hospital said a sterilization expert was hired to assist internal staff in resolving two issues relating to sterilization steam chemistry and water/ detergent balance.
The hospital says their readmission and post-surgical infection rates have not changed from the prior quarter, before the issue began.
Peace Health’s Chief Medical Officer Sudhakar Karlapudi said “that at no time did these issues directly affect patient care other than procedures being rescheduled.”
