BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The second round of ballot counts Wednesday night didn’t change too much, but did cement a couple races.
Democrat Tim Ballew II conceded the primary to fellow Democratic challenger Pinky Vargas, meaning she will face Republican incumbent Doug Ericksen for the 42nd District State Senate position in November.
Democrat Maria Cantwell will defend her U.S. Senate seat against former State Republican Party Chair Susan Hutchison.
Fellow Democrat incumbent Suzan DelBene will do the same against Republican Jeffrey Beeler who pulled further ahead of other challengers for the 1st District Representative seat.
Meanwhile, four opponents are all hovering around 7% as they compete to run against 2nd District incumbent Rick Larsen.
The County Prosecutor, County Council At-Large, Court of Appeals Judge and the three local Legislative Representative races are mostly unchanged.
