BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Southbound traffic on I-5 is now diverted to a temporary bypass lane at Old Fairhaven Parkway in south Bellingham.

The speed limit is also reduced to 40 miles per hour there.

Traffic will be diverted until the new southbound bridge is completed in mid-July and work will then shift to the northbound lanes.

The work is part of a project to improve fish passage under the freeway.
