TACOMA, WASH. – An immigrant rights group says about 100 immigrants at the Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma are now on a hunger strike.
Maru Mora Villalpando with the “Northwest Detention Center Resistance” says the inmates want several things.
“[They want] better food, lower commissary prices, because the food is such a bad quality, that they end up buying from commissary,” Villalpando says. “They also want clean clothing.”
They also want expedited hearings and improved access to medical care.
