BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The City of Bellingham selected a new councilmember Monday night to fill the at-large position vacated by Roxanne Murphy last month.
The Bellingham City Council held a special meeting to evaluate the qualifications of applicants on Monday where they listened to applicant speeches and chose their top 5 candidates.
The council later unanimously chose Hannah Stone as the newest council member.
Stone is an immigration and citizenship lawyer who previously interned at the Center for Social Justice in Seattle and was a campaign co-chair for Bellingham Public Schools’ effort to pass a multi-million dollar bond issue earlier this year.
Stone started her own law practice in Bellingham in 2007.
