OLYMPIA, Wash. – A new license plate in Washington state is going to cost you more in a few days.
KIRO reports the fees for plates jump on July 1st to help fund the $17 billion Move Ahead Washington transportation package.
New plates will cost $50, up from $10.
Replacement plates will go from $10 to $30, and plates for motorcycles zoom from $4 to $20.
Temporary dealer permits increase from $15 to $40, and dealer documentation fees will be capped at $200 rather than $150.
The higher fees will be charged for all applications received after July 1st, even if they’re postmarked earlier.
Move Ahead Washington commits $5.4 billion to carbon reduction efforts, $3 billion to maintenance and preservation, $3 to public transit and $1 billion toward Washington’s share of a new I-5 bridge over the Columbia River.
