OLYMPIA, Wash. — Activist Tim Eyman collected enough signatures to send an initiative to reduce car tab fees to the legislature.
Lawmakers will decide whether to approve I-976, aka Bring Back Our $30 Car Tabs, but if they don’t, the initiative will go to voters in November.
The Legislature also could write an alternative and put that on the ballot along with Eyman’s initiative.
Some lawmakers argue the measure would stifle mass transit expansion throughout the Puget Sound region and deal a financial blow to more than sixty cities and towns that charge additional fees to fund transportation projects.
