OLYMPIA, Wash – It’s not really a surprise; Governor Inslee is calling for a special session of the Legislature to start Monday.

Democrats who run the House and Republicans who control the Senate were unable to come up with a budget that fully funds education as required by the State Supreme Court.

Inslee, a Democrat, blames the Senate.

“The House has accepted that, by necessity, they’re going to have to compromise. They recognize that. The Senate has not accepted that responsibility.”

Senate Republicans say they can’t negotiate until Democrats pass the tax increases that fund their proposed budget.

One GOP senator says the democrats want to negotiate with ghost dollars that don’t exist.

The special session will last 30 days.
