OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) – State legislators say they reached agreement “in principle” on a new two-year budget.
Governor Inslee says legislative leaders were confident they’ll vote on the budget before the end of the day Friday – just hours before a potential government shutdown.
“I know this has been a frustrating experience to many of us, but I can tell you, if the budget does emerge the way that this looks like it’s going there’s a lot of good things for Washingtonians in there.”
The Democratic-controlled House and Republican-led Senate struggled for months to find compromise on a budget that addresses a state Supreme Court mandate on education funding.
