OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) – Washington students no longer need a note from a doctor and parent to use sunscreen at school.
Governor Inslee signed a bill exempts sunblock from being classified as a medication.
“Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer. We all need protection from the sun.”
Now children can use sunscreen on campus, at school-sponsored events and during field trips.
Previously, students needed a prescription and a note from a parent to use over-the-counter sunblock products at school.
