SEATTLE, Wash. (AP) — A boat being transported from Lake Michigan to Seattle was found to be infested with invasive mussels.
The Missoulian reports Montana inspectors found the zebra mussels after the boat had passed two prior examinations.
Zebra and quagga mussels can clog water intake pipes, disrupt the fishing tourism industry and cost industries, businesses and communities billions of dollars.
