WASHINGTON D.C. (AP) – The Justice Department says it won’t give cities some law enforcement grant money unless they allow immigration agents access to jails and alert them when someone facing deportation is being released.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced the new conditions as part of his promised crackdown on sanctuary cities.
Police use the money for everything from bulletproof vests to body cameras.
