CLE ELUM, Wash. – Washington is  under a state of emergency as crews continue to battle the three-week-old Jolly Mountain Fire in the Cle Elum area.

KING reported the fire covers nearly 21,000 acres and has burned more than 23 square miles.

Hundreds of firefighters are battling the blaze, but as of Monday morning it was still zero percent contained.

Thousands of residents are at the ready to evacuate at a moment’s notice.
Crews believe lightning sparked the fire.
