KING COUNTY, Wash. – The Washington State Department of Health confirms that a King County woman has died after having an adverse reaction to a COVID-19 vaccine.
Health Secretary Dr. Umair Shah says 37-year-old Jessica Berg Wilson developed a blood clot after getting the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
She was vaccinated on August 26th and died on September 7th.
Dr. Shah adds that blood clots are an extremely rare side effect associated with the J&J shot.
The CDC paused vaccinations with the shot in April but determined the benefits outweighed the risks.
Three other cases of fatal blood clots as a result of the J&J vaccine have been reported nationwide.
