BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A deputy is awaiting blood results and a Bellingham man is in jail after an arrest turned violent on the Guide near Smith Road late Saturday night.
The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were initially going to arrest Michael Brown after they say he punched through a front door window, leaving his hands bloody.
A deputy approached Brown, who was in the back seat of a friend’s car, and a struggle ensued when deputies say they went to stop him from reaching for a large pocket knife.
Brown is accused of gouging the deputy’s eye at least four times, possibly exposing the deputy to his blood, before deputies managed to render him unconscious long enough to handcuff him.
At the hospital, deputies say Brown repeatedly threatened to find them and make them “sorry.”
