LA CONNER, Wash. — La Conner is the latest town to join Bellingham and other Washington cities in banning commercial plastic bags.
The Skagit Valley Herald reports the ban will apply to shops, gas stations, markets and festivals.
It will not apply to social service organizations or restaurant take-outs.
The ban goes into effect in August, but businesses can apply for an extension until January.
