LAKEWOOD, Wash. — A Lakewood-based Little Caesars Pizza franchise owner faces $42,000 in fines after the state Department of Labor and Industries says it violated youth labor laws.

The Olympian reports L&I investigated two restaurants between December 2017 and February 2018 and says minors were working outside legal hours and worked without proper rest periods on more than 100 separate occasions.

It also accuses the restaurants of letting teen workers use equipment they are prohibited from using.

The franchise is appealing the fines and a hearing is set for November.

The state says the franchise owner was also fined for similar violations in 2015.
