LAKEWOOD, Wash. – A Lakewood man has been arrested and accused of shooting a person who was trying to steal his catalytic converter, then dragging him with his truck and leaving his body in a field.
Officers responded early Saturday after a witness reported a pickup truck dragging an unknown object through the parking lot of a Lakewood business.
They found a man’s body in a nearby field.
They contacted 54-year-old Michael Campbell who said he was sleeping in the truck when he heard someone trying to steal his catalytic converter.
He told investigators that he shot the man and tied him to the hitch on his truck while the man was still alive, then dragged him to the field.
Campbell faces murder and other charges.
