WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — Law enforcement and citizens in Whatcom County are remembering Police Chief Michael Knapp, one year after he died after being hit by a vehicle in Lynden.
Michael Knapp was serving as interim police chief in Lynden when he was hit while crossing the street near the police station on November 5th, 2019.
He died of his injuries the next day at age 79.
Chief Knapp began his law enforcement career in California, then served as Medina’s police chief before leading the Ferndale Police Department from 2005 until his retirement in 2016.
