OLYMPIA, Wash (AP) – A fourth driving under the influence offense would be a felony under a measure passed by the state legislature.
The bill now heads to the Governor’s desk.
The legislation allows prosecutors to file felony charges if a person gets a fourth DUI within 10 years.
Offenders would be sent to prison for up to a year and a half, instead of serving shorter sentences in county jails.
They would also have to pay a fine to help fund education programs to reduce driving under the influence.
