OLYMPIA, Wash. — State lawmakers are considering proposals to make passing school bonds easier.
The News Tribune reports one bill would allow bond issues to pass with a simple majority while the other would require a 55% approval rate.
A 60% super majority is currently needed to pass a school bond issue.
Public Schools Superintendent Chris Reykdal yesterday told legislators to “get courageous” and put a constitutional amendment on the ballot in November.
Next Tuesday voters in the Ferndale and Nooksack Valley School Districts will decide on bond issues to improve their facilities.
