OLYMPIA, Wash (AP) – Unable to agree to negotiate, much less reach a state budget deal, it appears the state legislature will again go into overtime.
Republican Senator Mark Schoesler says it’s hard to negotiate when House Democrats can’t say where the revenue is coming from.
“Negotiating with ghost dollars is difficult.”
Lawmakers are likely to start a special session on Monday.
The regular session ends this weekend.
“We have to get to the negotiating table and get the problem solved as soon as possible.”
House Majority Leader Pat Sullivan says most lawmakers will remain in their home districts, and just the budget negotiators would return to the Capitol next week.
