BEND, Ore. (AP) — Les Schwab, the Bend, Oregon-based tire powerhouse known for its customer service, is considering a sale.

The Oregonian reports the privately held company confirms it has hired Goldman Sachs to find a buyer.

Bloomberg News reports the company could go for at least $3-billion.

A sale is a surprising move for the business.

Les Schwab founded his company in 1952 and always said he had no interest in passing control of it to anyone outside his family.
