BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Lighthouse Mission Ministries in Bellingham is working to increase the amount of homeless people they can provide with emergency shelter.
Executive Director Hans Erchinger-Davis says they’re remodeling the dining room to allow another 30 men to stay there.
The project is estimated to cost $10,000 dollars and should be done in January.
In the meantime, Erchinger-Davis says they’ve partnered with the Fountain Community Church to open a 40-bed Severe Weather Shelter that is consistently open every night through February, not just the coldest nights.
Currently, the mission is providing shelter to about 230 men, women and children each night, and serving 350 meals a day.
