BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Bellingham’s homeless community now has a place to take hot showers.
The Lighthouse Mission Ministries is expanding their outreach efforts by launching a two-stall shower trailer called ShowerConnect.
The trailer is available on a sign-up basis on Wednesdays in their parking lot off Holly Street, and next month they will expand to Saturdays thanks to partnerships with several local churches.
Hans Erchinger-Davis, executive director at LMM, says he hopes that this program will be a step in creating healing, more engagement in the Mission recovery programs, and and more church and community involvement.
“The program [not] meant to merely be an end to itself, but to be a touchpoint. A point where people hear and see that they matter. That they are not forgotten. That they are loved, not only by the staff and volunteers, but by Jesus,” he says.
