BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Officials are examining impacts of COVID-19 on Whatcom County’s commercial fishing industry.

The industry, which is particularly vulnerable to COVID-19 related restrictions, has a significant impact on Whatcom County’s economy with over 2,500 jobs earning an estimated $94.5 million in wages.

Commercial fishing businesses are urged to respond to Whatcom Unified Command’s economic impact survey to help them better understand the impact of the pandemic.

The Port of Bellingham says results will inform strategies for economic recovery and help identify how much recovery aid will be needed.

The anonymous, voluntary survey asks business owners to select a survey most relevant to their specific operations:
