LUMMI ISLAND, Wash. — Whatcom County restaurants might not come to mind when considering America’s “most influential” dining places.
But one local restaurant is on that lofty list.
Lummi Island’s The Williows Inn has made Esquire’s list of the 40 Most Important Restaurants of the Decade!
Food and Drink Editor Jeff Gordinier says chef Blaine Wetzel’s “Foraged foods and fresh fish, clams, oysters, and scallops make The Willow(s) Inn well worth the ferry trip to its island. The overnight stay, too.”
Seattle’s oyster counter The Walrus and the Carpenter and southern food haven JuneBaby were the only other Washington restaurants to join the famous eateries on the list that Gordinier says are a commentary of the past 10 years and will someday “bring time-specific memories flooding back.”
