BELLINGHAM, Wash. — How have you been dealing with the stress of the past year?

Local garden centers say many have been finding solace in the soil.

Jenny Gunderson is co-owner of My Garden Nursery on Bakerview.

She told KGMI that people who have never gardened before are growing vegetable gardens and raising indoor plants, while experienced gardeners are expanding their gardens.

Gunderson says their sales took off last spring and have stayed strong.

Fruit trees, berries, vegetables and herbs have been especially popular.

And she says gardening novices shouldn’t be intimidated as they’re happy to share their knowledge, even about how to keep the deer away from your plants.
