WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – After over eight years of service to Whatcom County, K-9 Jag has hung up his Kevlar vest.

The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post that Jag is retiring at home with his handler, Deputy Struebel and his family.

Jag’s initial training was for patrol and in 2015 the team was certified in narcotics.

Jag is now 10-and-a-half years old with medical issues so Struebel says it’s time for Jag to retire.

The Sheriff’s Office post said Jag has been a tremendous asset to the sheriff’s office and will be missed by all.
