BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Some local restaurants are temporarily closing their doors today, June 12th, in recognition of a statewide strike.

Black Lives Matter Seattle-King County is calling for a statewide general strike on June 12 to support all Black lives in Washington.

According to the organization’s website, they are encouraging everyone to spend this time on direct action for structural change.

They urge participants not to go to work or work from home.

Several Bellingham restaurants including Boundary Bay Brewery, Black Sheep and Elizabeth Station have announced that they will close today in support.
